Building Control![]() Welcome to the City and County of Swansea Building Control's Service WebsiteThe Regulations themselves have been made by Parliament and responsibility for their enforcement has been given to the Council. It is important to note Building Regulations and Planning Permission are separate. Usually it is necessary to submit applications under both sets of legislation to the Council before work is started. Building Control Surveyors from the Council provide an independent check on plans of proposed building work. They inspect the work as it is carried out to ensure it complies with the Building Regulations. They also work very closely with Fire Safety Officers of the Mid and West Wales Fire & Rescue Service.
